Cook up something delicious that will be ready in time for dinner with minimal effort with the Slow-Cooker Cajun Turkey Meatballs and Grits from My Food and Family. You can add ingredients to the slow-cooker in the morning and come home to delicious meatballs and grits.
What You Need
Original recipe yields 6 servings
1-1/2 lb. ground turkey
3/4 cup panko bread crumbs
1 egg, beaten
1 cup each chopped celery, green peppers and onions, divided
Place turkey and bread crumbs in large bowl. Add egg; 1/2 cup each celery, peppers and onions; 2 Tbsp. 57 Sauce; and 2 tsp. Cajun seasoning; mix just until blended.
Shape into 30 (1-inch) balls; place in slow cooker sprayed with cooking spray.
Combine tomatoes with remaining celery, peppers, onions and Cajun seasoning; pour over meatballs. .
Cook on LOW 6 to 8 hours (or on HIGH 3 to 4 hours). About 15 min. before meatballs are done, cook grits as directed on package, omitting salt.
Use slotted spoon to transfer meatballs from slow cooker to bowl; cover to keep warm. Stir remaining 57 Sauce into sauce remaining in slow cooker.
Add cheese to grits; cook and stir 2 to 3 min. or until melted. Serve topped with meatballs and sauce.
Sprinkle with 2 sliced green onions before serving.
For added color and texture, serve with a mixed green salad tossed with your favorite KRAFT Lite Dressing.
