What You Need
Original recipe yields 10 servings
1 pkg. (8 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Neufchatel Cheese, softened
1/4 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
2 tsp. orange extract
4 egg s
2-1/2 cups milk
1 French bread baguette (1 lb.), cut into 1-1/2-inch-thick slices
3 cups mixed dried fruit bits (apples, apricots, black raisins, cranberries, golden raisins, peaches), divided
1 cup lite maple-flavored or pancake syrup
2 Tbsp. cinnamon sugar

Let's Make It
Beat Neufchatel, butter, sugar, cinnamon and orange extract in large bowl with mixer until blended. Add eggs, 1 at a time, mixing well after each addition. Gradually add milk, mixing well after each addition.
Pour Neufchatel mixture over combined bread and 1 cup mixed fruit bits in large bowl; toss lightly. Let stand 15 min., rearranging bread slices occasionally so all slices are evenly moistened with Neufchatel mixture.
Heat oven to 350°F. Arrange bread in rows in 13x9-inch baking dish sprayed with cooking spray. Pour any remaining Neufchatel mixture over bread.
Bake 40 to 45 min. or until golden brown. Meanwhile, bring syrup to boil in medium saucepan. Add remaining fruit bits and cinnamon sugar; stir. Cook on low heat 10 min., stirring occasionally. Cool sauce slightly.
Serve French toast topped with syrup mixture.
Prepare using fat-free milk.
How to Make Cinnamon Sugar
Making cinnamon sugar is a snap. Simply combine 2 to 3 tsp. ground cinnamon with 1/2 cup granulated sugar. Store in airtight container or in shaker bottle until ready to use as desired.
Substitute vanilla for the orange extract.
