Let's Make It
Place pour-over filter holder on top of coffee mug or serving vessel. Moisten coffee filter with tap water; place in holder.
Add coffee grounds to filter holder. Slowly pour small amount of boiling water over grounds, adding just enough water to evenly moisten grounds. Let stand 30 sec. Gradually add remaining water, stopping occasionally to allow coffee grounds to completely absorb water. (This helps with the flavor development of the brewed coffee.)
Remove filter holder when coffee stops dripping.
While pour-over brewing does not require a special pouring kettle, having a narrow spout does help maximize control in pouring the boiling water over the coffee grounds in the filter holder.
Pour Over Coffee Brewers
Pour over coffee makers come in a variety of sizes. Purchase the size that best fits your needs and adjust recipe accordingly.
How to Grind the Coffee Beans
When preparing coffee using the pour-over method, it's best to use medium-fine ground coffee beans. Use a bean grinder at home to grind the beans, or the coffee grinder at your supermarket set to medium-fine.
