This layered salad, with its cheese, vegetables and chopped ham in a zesty basil-infused dressing is perfect for potlucks because it serves 16 guests.
What You Need
Original recipe yields 16 servings
1 cup KRAFT Zesty Italian Dressing
2 Tbsp. chopped fresh basil
1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
2 carrot s, shredded (about 1 cup)
2 pkg. (9 oz. each) OSCAR MAYER Deli Fresh Smoked Ham, chopped
1 cup KRAFT Shredded Colby & Monterey Jack Cheeses, divided
2 cups chopped lettuce
1/2 cup sliced onion s
2 tomatoes, chopped
1 avocado, peeled, pitted and sliced

Let's Make It
Mix dressing, basil and pepper until blended. Pour 1/4 cup dressing mixture on bottom of large glass bowl.
Top with layers of shredded carrots and half each of the meat, cheese, lettuce and onions. Repeat layers.
Top with avocado. Spoon 1/4 cup of the remaining dressing over avocado. Cover bowl with plastic wrap. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Pour remaining dressing over salad just before serving.
Roasted red pepper, grilled eggplant, fresh raw spinach and other vegetables make delicious additions or substitutions to this salad!
Take the kids to the market and let them select their favorite fruits and vegetables. Help them slice and prepare produce and then let them put it together!
Instead of the basil, try fresh oregano or cilantro in the dressing mixture.
