Original recipe yields 1 serving
1 pound flour
1 pound unsalted sweet butter
8 egg yolks
1/2 tsp whiskey
1/2 tsp vanilla
4 Tbsp half-and-half creamer

8 egg whites
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 cup sugar
4 1/2 cups ground walnuts

Let's Make It

Work flour & butter together. Make a hole in the middle with hand. Dump egg yolks, whiskey, vanilla, and creamer. Mix together.

Flour a board and make a long log with dough. Cut end of log about the size of walnut, and roll in balls. Put in freezer overnight.

Make filing same day as preparing dough. Mix starting with egg whites, vanilla & sugar with mixer. When it looks like meringue, fold in walnuts with spatula. Refrigerate.

Flour board and take dough balls out of freezer. Roll out thin. Take tsp. of filing and put in the middle. Then fold dough over and twist ends. Place on pan.

Cook at 350°F for 10-15 minutes or until lightly brown. After cooled, roll in powdered sugar.
