Mix all dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, salt to taste, and vegetable shortening. Mix with hand till there's not so much clumps of vegetable shortening. Slowly add in water a little at a time and mix till it becomes dough. Then heat your flat pan on medium.
Next start taking pieces of your dough and ball them up and set aside. Continue till there's no more dough. Rub your rolling pin with flour and start rolling the balls into tortillas.
Put them on the pan till they turn light brown on both side. Continue till all balls are finish.
