Let's Make It
Stir together 2 cups flour, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 tsp. baking powder and salt. Use a pastry blender or 2 forks to cut in cold butter until pea size. Stir in sliced almonds and egg yolks with fork. Press 1/2 of mixture in the bottom of an ungreased 9x13 dish. Set aside.
Stir 3/4 cup sugar, 1/4 cup flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Add sliced apples and toss to coat. Arrange apples mixture over crust. Sprinkle with remaining crust mixture. Bake 350°F for 35 minutes. Cool on wire rack.
In a small bowl, stir in sifted powdered sugar, milk and almond extract. Stir until smooth. Drizzle icing over top of apple bars. Cut into 12 bars.
