Original recipe yields 1 serving
1 cup sugar
1 cup dark corn syrup
2 sticks butter
1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp vanilla

In medium saucepan, over medium heat, mix sugar, corn syrup and butter. Continue stirring until the mixture comes to a “ploppy” boil. Time for 7 minutes – do not stir.

Add condensed milk. Mix well, and continue stirring over medium heat. When the mixture comes again to a “ploppy” boil, time for 13 minutes, stirring constantly.

Take off heat, add vanilla, mix well and pour into a well-buttered 8 by 8 inch glass pan. Cool overnight at room temperature. Cut into bite-sized squares and wrap in squares of waxed paper.
