1/2 pound butter or margarine
8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
3 dash es red pepper
1 egg
1 long thinly sliced loaf bread (will cut easier if frozen first)

Place first 4 ingredients in small bowl and beat with electric mixer until fluffy.

Stack bread with 3 slices per stack. Remove crusts and cut stacks into quarters. Spread cheese mixture generously between slices, then on top and sides very thinly.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 12 to 15 minutes. Serve warm.
