1 pkg. (2-layer size) yellow cake mix
blue, yellow and red food colorings
decorations: 30 gumdrops, 2 vanilla creme-filled chocolate sandwich cookies, 1 JET-PUFFED Marshmallow, 14 small round candies, 9 square fruit chews, 2 jelly candies, 1 chewy fruit snacks, 2 mini peanut butter creme-filled sandwich cookies, 2 jelly candies
Let's Make It
1
Prepare cake batter as directed on package; pour evenly into 1 each 9-inch round and square pan. Bake cakes as directed on package. Cool completely. Remove cakes from pans.
2
Place round cake on cutting board; trim off 1-inch piece from top of cake. Cut trimmed piece crosswise in half; set aside. Cut square layer into 3 triangles, starting at center of one side and cutting to bottom left corner of cake layer. Repeat the cut with other side of cake.
3
Assemble cake pieces to resemble a clown's head by placing round cake layer near top of large board or platter, with straight edge of cake at top of board. Place middle cake triangle at top of round cake layer for the hat, and small pieces that were cut from top of round layer at base of the hat for the hair. Arrange remaining 2 triangles at base of the head, with pointed ends together, to resemble a bow tie.
4
Tint 1/2 cup coconut with a few drops blue food coloring. (See tip for how to tint coconut.) Repeat with 1/2 cup of the remaining coconut and yellow food coloring; tint remaining coconut with red food coloring.
5
Use small amount of remaining COOL WHIP to attach cake pieces to each other on board. Frost cake with remaining COOL WHIP. Sprinkle hat with blue coconut, cake just under the hat with red coconut (for the hair), and bow tie with yellow coconut. Decorate with remaining ingredients as shown in photo.
