Go Fishing For New Recipes

Summer is the perfect time to enjoy seafood—even if you’ve shied away from it in the past. Here are a few delicious recipes to try.

Why not add more seafood to your summer menus? For one thing, its light flavor and texture won’t weigh you down on a hot day. Also, seafood cooks quickly—pair it with simple grilled vegetables or a salad, and dinner’s on the table in no time flat. That means you can spend more time enjoying the gorgeous weather and less time cooped up in the kitchen.

But that’s not the only good news…. Many types of fish—including sardines, albacore tuna, and salmon—contain better-for-you fats called omega-3 fatty acids. In fact, because fish can be a lean source of protein and can provide beneficial fats, the American Heart Association recommends eating seafood twice a week.

Ready to go fishing for some new recipes? Here are some of our favorites:

  • For entertaining, serve California Shrimp Topper snacks. This recipe takes just 10 minutes to prepare but has a supremely gourmet feel. If you start with precooked shrimp, you don’t even have to worry about deveining them. If you go the raw route, check out our KRAFT Kitchens video How to Clean Shrimp. (Sometimes it really helps to see exactly how a pro does it!)
  • For a simple main dish with a Mediterranean spin, try Shrimp Kabobs with Olive and Tomato Relish. They grill up beautifully in less than 10 minutes, using simple ingredients you may even have in your kitchen right now.
  • Instead of hamburgers, wake up your grill with Mini Salmon Burgers. This recipe calls for canned salmon, but it’s also a great way to use up leftover grilled salmon steaks.
