How to Make Homemade Freezer Jam - Instructions

  1. Start by cleaning your containers. Clean and dry five 1-cup plastic containers with lids.
  2. Using a potato masher, crush 1 quart of fully ripe hulled strawberries to make 2 cups of crushed strawberries.
  3. Add 4 cups of granulated sugar to the crushed strawberries and blend together. Let stand for ten minutes, stirring occasionally. The sugar will help release the juices of the strawberries.
  4. In a small saucepan, mix ¾ cup water with 1 package of SURE.JELL fruit pectin. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally. The pectin will be used to set, or thicken, your homemade jam. Boil the mixture for one minute.
  5. Slowly add the pectin to the crushed strawberries and sugar mixture. Stir continuously for three minutes or until the sugar is mostly dissolved and no longer grainy.
  6. Fill each plastic container with your homemade jam up to a ½ inch from the top of the container. Wipe any excess jam from the edges of the container and cover with a lid.
  7. Let each container of homemade jam stand at room temperature for 24-hours and then enjoy as a spread or use in a delicious dessert recipe! This jam can be refrigerated for up to three weeks or frozen for up to a year.
